Betatest is free and not too looked-at. But Betatest is worth a download and will speed up your workflow by doing the DICOM to STL conversion. To give you an idea, I loaded a large gel phantom from the Betasteb site into the beta test platform, imported it in RadiAnt and had a look. The plugin claims that it will take about 20 minutes for each DICOM. It took about a minute to load the DICOM file into RadiAnt. The program was then able to align and slice the DICOM in about 5 minutes. The results are great. I am not a radiologist, so I could not tell you which parts are right and which are wrong. However, the upper tube clearly shows in 3D and was aligned directly to the original scan. So, it seems that the program is working as advertised.
It is free, very accurate and quick to use. Its only downside is that it has a poor user interface, so it requires a bit of training. For instance, to save a 3D model file, you will first have to load the DICOM file into RadiAnt, then select the organs you want to print and press the Save as button. The program will then ask you for a name for the model, the resolution and the slices. Finally, you will have to select save mode, and the model will be saved. I found all of this a bit tedious and would have expected a few more buttons.
