The Incredible Hulk received a negative critical response upon its release. According to GameRankings reviewer Lisa Foiles, the game "uses the Hulk's awesome abilities to bits, but in an obviously simplified way. It's a shame, really, since such simple games don't sell that well." In contrast, Peter Main of the Eisner-nominated webcomic Life's Too Short wrote, "When superhero movies get really interesting, and there are more than two of them (say, more than six), there is a danger that the second film in a franchise will be bad. However, when superhero movies are predictable, there's no danger of that happening, and this third Incredible Hulk movie is very, very good." IGN reviewer Craig Harris wrote that the "game begins with a prologue chapter that is easily skipped. Once the action gets going, though, the gameplay is plenty good." OPMagazines Michael S. Kouza noted that the game was "a curiously flat and uninspired bit of Hulk butchering that fails to capture the titanic proportions of the big green guy." The visuals and animations in the game are inspired by the art, design, and action genres, as well as the big-screen, 3D-animated film. The game features three different difficulty settings of "Hulk on High", "Bruce Banner's Gonna Hulk", and "I'm Gonna Hulk You."
The Incredible Hulk was released in most regions on June 5, 2008, the day of the film's opening. A special edition of the game, released in North America, was released on June 6 and went on sale on June 10.[6] The special edition includes Hulk's left arm, three bonus levels, a journal, an original soundtrack, and a comic book series. d2c66b5586
