Like the U 47, the U 67 also featured an all-brass capsule. Introduced in 1960, the U 67 was sold for a whopping DM 3,400 (today $1,000 USD). The U 67 was built with a brass rectangular K67 capsule, with a fiberboard Y67 capsule introduced in 1966. The original U 67, with serial number #6712, is estimated to have been made between 1960 and 1963.
In addition to the originals, we have included a newer U 67, with serial number #1382. The newer unit was sold a couple of years ago, and Timmo received it from a customer from the Netherlands. According to the customer, the U 67 featured a fiberglass K67 capsule. He also reported that the newer version had a slightly different power supply, which, according to him, was a Telefunken EF86T, but it is not certain whether this is the EF86 tube or if he was referring to an external power supply.
Its capsule was originally marked with a serial number (#1382). This model has been rebuilt and modified multiple times, with some of those mods ending in serial numbers. The original Neumann serial number #1382 is known to have been replaced by the number #1436, and was followed by the serial number #1548. A few of the rebuilds were marked with the original tube, which Neumann later marketed and sold in a modified tube (model NU67u #1824).
The U 47 was first manufactured with an all-brass K67 capsule, followed by a fiberboard design around 1966. The original black finish was often replaced by a black grained metallic finish, but that coating eventually wore off, revealing the original finish and markings. This microphone is the most sought after model from the Neumann company due to its highly sought-after performance and the fact that it is relatively inexpensive compared to other U series models and its quality. The original box can be identified by its orange liner (as opposed to the standard black).
The plastic capsule cover is beveled around the edge, which is a typical feature of these microphones. The metal screws are still in place, and the original Telefunken power supply is complete, although the AC plug is dated 1964 instead of 1965, and it does not match the capsule shape and serial number.
Some applications, such as Java, require that the application directories and libraries are updated to a newer version before the user can update. However, there are some applications that are not explicitly API-specific, such as the X Window System, the X server source code, are automatically updated as required.
