Beginning in 1974, the Ypsilanti, Michigan Sex Offenders Registry has operated an open access computer search database of all or eligible sex offenders listed in the Ypsilanti Area of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Sex Offender list linked to Wayne County. Access is under the Michigan Administrative Code, 314.53, Sex Offender Registry.

The Louisiana Public Facilities Privacy In Public Service Act (La.Rev.Stat.Ann. § 40:1762-1764C) prohibits local law enforcement agencies from releasing certain public information about a person on their sex offender registry unless the person consents to the disclosure or specifically authorizes the release for a public use.

The Sex Offender Registration for Life Act of 2007 (S.2004, L.2007, ch. 285), provides detailed sex offender registration requirements to persons as required in the "Sex Offender Registration Program for Children and Sex Offenders Act (S.2004, L.2007, ch. 214)". This sex offender registry is to be operated by the Division of Criminal Justice for the purpose of protecting the public from sex offenders through requiring registration of persons convicted of a sex offense, requiring a presentence investigation, establishing a current photograph and criminal history and collate specific offender information required by law with multiple public safety and law enforcement agencies for dissemination to law enforcement agencies for protection of the public.

Section 3(b) of S.1974, ch. 11, in pertinent part, requires the State Department of Crime & Delinquency Control to coordinate with other state agencies having a part in the care, control, and rehabilitation of sexually dangerous persons. Section 3(b) also requires that the commissioner shall provide the department of health with copies of all relevant reports, recommendations, and legal action concerning sexually dangerous persons conducted by the department of mental health and the department of social services. d2c66b5586
